Top One-Liners from Decoded Fashion Milan

By Sofia Celeste 25 November 2015

MILAN, ITALY - Decoded Fashion Milan, the networking "superbowl" of the year, united fashion's trailblazers and tech pioneers under the roof of the city's swanky Magna Pars Hotel Nov. 17 and 18.

Vanguard fashion houses Salvatore Ferragamo, Missoni, Rene Caovilla and established international players LUISAVIAROMA, vente-privee and Zalando were just a few names that took part in shaping discussions under the theme "Bytes & Bricks: Data, Personalisation and Influencers Shaping the New Retail."

In addition to discussing the future of the smart store and the online shopping experience in the age of virtual reality, the conference also tackled topics like wearable technology and how data and personalisation are key sales drivers.

For the third year, Decoded Fashion Milan promoted emerging entrepreneurs through its Fashion Pitch competition, which was won by Swiss-startup Prodibi, a platform that solves photo display issues by allowing content publishers to showcase high-resolution images without limits. Prodibi won a cash prize of 10,000 euros given by Fashion Technology Accelerator, a mentoring programme offered by Hogan, and direct access to the StartUp Initiative by Intesa Sanpaolo

For those of you who missed it, here are a few memorable quotes from the event:

"If you are not using Snapchat, you are out." -  Simone Marchetti, fashion editor and style influencer, d.repubblica.it, repubblica.it, La Repubblica

"Just because you have a lot of followers doesn't necessarily mean your image will produce sales. And vice versa... if you have a weak following, it doesn't necessarily mean your image won't produce sales." - Roberta Benaglia, CEO, Style Capital SGR

"Millennials love having things made unique for themselves." - Giorgia Longoni, global e-commerce director, Ray-Ban, Luxottica Group

"Working with a company makes things real, more than simply digital." - Riccardo Sciutto, General Manager, Hogan

"Knowledge comes from history. It's the starting point to move into the future." - Edoardo Caovilla, COO and Creative Director, Renè Caovilla

"Be obsessed with understanding you audience." - Luca de Fino, Head of Content, Ogilvy & Mather Italy

"Knowing your audience comes first, not second, is content marketing." - Jarvis Macchi, Digital Director, Brooks England Ltd

"Over-identification is something sublime." - Angela Missoni, Creative Director, Missoni

"That which does not exist online, does not exist at all." - Andrea Panconesi, CEO, Luisa Via Roma

"Fashion is full of identity and complexity." - Daljit Singh, Principal Director - Design Strategy in Europe and LatAM, Fjord
