5 Reasons to Believe Execution is Everything

By Faith Robinson 16 October 2018

MILAN, ITALY - Innovation is one thing, but culture is quite another. What’s the point of investing in future-facing technology if your consumer isn’t ready for it? Data continues to drive the development of the fashion industry into ever-more sophisticated territory, but without inspiration, it’s hard to get your whole team on board.

With just 5 weeks out from e-PITTI.com’s annual fashion + innovation Summit, we’re excited to tackle these challenges and more with one of the most diverse Summit line-ups of the year in Europe so far. Below, we’ve highlighted 5 reasons to believe in our 2018 event theme: Execution is Everything - and why these themes are critical to the work of our digital-obsessed fashion community right now.

1. CULTURE

A next-gen energy has created boundless new scenarios across the fashion industry over the last 12 - 18 months. Mixed notions of heritage and hype are guiding the decisions of almost all the region’s fashion brands - but it’s not a simple space to navigate. If cultural relevance is a key growth driver, getting those crucial collaborations right is everything. At e-P Summit, we’re looking forward to case studies from Converse, Cesare Paciotti, Midnight 00, Highsnobiety and more on the juicy subject of Culture for fashion innovation next month.

2. COMMERCE

It goes without saying that fashion is nothing without sales. Merchandising, pricing, personalisation and the holy grail of ecom: omnichannel are issues still challenging the world’s contemporary commerce industries as well as our e-P Summit community. As consumer demand and expectation continues to morph and develop in flux, what new strategies can be executed for success? Legendary Italian brands including Tod’s and Moncler will share their stories at e-P Summit and we’ll also be hearing from younger experts in the field: Amsterdam-based start-up The Fabricant will define the new powers of a ‘digital fashion house’, while RE Analytics breaks down some exceptional industry research around value perception and product pricing.

3. DATA

The big one. The clever manipulation of data will never not be one of the fashion industry’s most powerful tools; as a subject that informs fashion industry decisions on a variety of levels, its essential for the e-P Summit community to come away from next month's event with a refreshed approach to what data can do. For this reason, we’re stoked to welcome an incredible keynote case study from HUGO BOSS, who’ll be shedding light on the innovative forces that smart factories can bring to your instore experience. Take notes form Alibaba, Entrupy and our esteemed keynote interview for the afternoon, Thierry Andretta, Chief Executive of British powerhouse brand Mulberry, who will discuss contemporary in store experience in the context of fashion futures.

4. INNOVATION

Newness has always been an integral part of fashion, but at e-P Summit we extend that drive beyond garment design and dive deeper into progression for the entire fashion industry. Innovation is a huge word, but it’s a goal that our community is obsessed by. That’s why Fashion Techonology Accelerator will be taking the opportunity to discuss the exciting opportunities all fashion brands have waiting by partnering with the right startup tech and talent. Commenting further on innovation in the context of heritage, Levi Strauss & Co. will explore how innovative stores can engage younger audiences - but not before Kyra TV (one of the UK’s most exciting - and successful - upstart businesses) will explore Gen Z consumption habits and the incredible ways in which fashion, tech and positivity can influence even the most aloof young audiences.

5. INSPIRATION

Based on the industry-relevant, box-ticking, packed-out event that e-P Summit will be producing next month, we’re in no doubt that anyone taking part will leave inspired. However, we’ll be finishing off the programming by diving deeper into what keeps us all excited about the fashion industry. Without inspiration, innovation can’t exist, and for this reason, the final part of the e-P Summit agenda brings to life some brilliant closing provocation. Instagram continues to define social media, and we’ll be hearing more about how creative communications are shaping the future. Looking beyond fashion and into millennial lifestyle, Trippin will be sharing why friend-sourcing is essential for authenticity - while Camera Nazionale Della Moda Italiana and Pitti Immagine’s head honchos join a conversation around why menswear as a category shows no sign of slowing.

We hope to see you in Milan for e-P Summit next month to learn from and meet with new friends across the fashion + innovation landscape. Tickets are still available but moving quickly, so check with your team and drop in your diaries this unique experience to get ahead with e-PITTI.com and Pitti Immagine next month.
